design blogfest in soho
I attended "design blogfest" last evening benefiting the Soho Partnership, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of homeless people in lower Manhattan. What a great turnout at the Design Within Reach Soho location on Wooster Street. Well over a thousand people passed through the doors last night to show their support.
Bloggers, designers, architects, editors and a few wandering tourists clutched glasses of cheer and spoke face to face. No spam robots were spotted there, as far as I could tell. People freely commented throughout the evening without need for human readable validation :-) The event was organized by the folks at apartment therapy and supported by design and real estate blogs: mocoloco, treehugger, curbed and designsponge. I got to chat with Lockhart Steel from curbed, met apartment therapy's Maxwell Rillingham-Ryan & family, and talked about NYC real estate with the folks from the Living with Legends: Hotel Chelsea Blog, who are still living the dream of this last outpost of downtown Bohemia. Nice to meet so many from the NYC blogsphere in person, made better by helping such a worthy cause.
